While in Seattle for the Bike Expo we met some great bag designers and makers at Swift Industries. They make beautiful bike touring bags along with some backpacks and other sweet cases. Everything is made in their Seattle workshop from high quality materials. If you are in the market for custom hand made bike bags, definately check them out, http://www.builtbyswift.com/ . They also have a bike crafters show at their shop in April!
Check out this great review we got in URBAN VELO! Don’t worry we have removed the zipper pull and replaced with a silent piece of cord:) Also not mentioned in the article is that you can even fit a spare tube and a cold beverage if you like. The wet suit neoprene insulates your refreshment as well as shock absorbs that rough ride. No guarantee on fizz though!
Happy Holidays! It has been a month to remember here at Green Guru; we are busier than ever and having more fun than ever here in Boulder. Recently we attended the Parade of Lights on Pearl Street, dressed as robots! You can see the pictures above.
Our holiday deals are still happening on GreenGuruGear.com. 20% off all orders + free shipping now through the end of the year. Share the gift of upcycled gear!
UPCYCLE ASIA !!!
Believe it or not, we have made some serious progress with our gear in Asia! In the past few months we have been making sales in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, and we are working on Singapore. These people have shown some love for our new lightweight backpacks, like the Freewheeler and the Spinner. We were recently featured in a Japanese magazine, called Lightening, that is read throughout the entire country. We are super stoked about it, but no one in our office can read the article!
It is great to know that people on the other side of the world have similar views as us and are interested in living the Green Guru life. The bike scene in Asia must be bigger than we think and we hope to help it grow!
Perhaps the most amusing part of the SF Bike Expo was the Pedal Savvy Fashion Show. Green Guru Gear was featured on many of the models in what apparently was their most successful fashion show yet. There was a large diversity of bike fashion shown off by both men and women riding their bikes down the runway. Unfortunately no one accidentally rode their bike off the stage, that would have been hilarious.
Here are links to a New York Times write up of the event and a photo gallery from the show.

We’ve got two events coming up here at Green Guru in Boulder. Thursday we are hosting an after party for the highly anticipated ski movie premier Wyoming Triumph by KGB Productions. The viewing will be at the Dairy Center for the Arts at 7:30 pm, and afterwards everyone will be coming to our warehouse/office for a good time!
On Saturday, we are hosting an open house for everyone to come check out our upcycled gear and have a chance to get everything 20% off. It will take place from 11-5 at Green Guru - 2500 47th St. Suite 12. Hope to see you here!
We’ve got an awesome new piece of equipment here at Green Guru. HUGE thanks to @Sailrite for sponsoring us with a walking-foot style sewing machine. Originally made for sail building and repair, this portable machine is durable and ideal for what we sew together to make our products. Were going to be taking it on the road with us to show off what we do with upcycled bike tubes and wetsuit material. We are also putting together a bicycle generator that will be ridden to power this bad boy. Come check it out!
We highly recommend this machine for any craftsman out there! Anyone interested in @Sailrite, visit their website www.sailrite.com.
Great success! The Philly Bike Expo was a lot of fun this year. Thousands came out to see what the northeast has to offer with bikes. Bicycle artists came out from New York City, Boston, and Philadelphia. There were also lots of unique frame builders and retailers like ourselves, it was very cool! They even had a bike valet going on. There was a great fashion show at the church down the street from the event and a Gold Sprints race at Keswick Cycles in University City. Check out the photos above!
